I am prepared to die is the name given to the three hour speech given by nelson mandela on 20 april 1964 from the dock of the defendant at the rivonia trial. Mandela was charged for opposing the white government of south africa charges of sabotage high treason and threats to overthrow the south african government. In his defense mandela gave a speech titled i am prepared to die at his trial.
