I Believe In God But Not Religion

The questioner raises the issue that he does believe in the existence of one god but at the same time he refuses to acknowledge any religion whatsoever.

I know there is higher existence but it doesn t really affect my life personally. Others believe in a deist god a cosmic watchmaker who wound up the universe and then stepped back. So i was baptized catholic i always went to church until i was 14 then i stopped going for a couple of years started going again last year i been questioning my beliefs because i believe in evolution i don t know the 10 commandments i never read the bible in my life i don t know what a gospel is. Why do people believe in religion so much.

Some people believe in a personal intervening god as defined by a religious creed. God didn t make religion because if he did he would only make one religion that everyone would or should. Their beliefs fall on a wide spectrum from i believe in a higher power with whom i communicate and pray to to i think i believe in god but. They all claim that if you don t believe in their religion god that you will go to hell.

God is not a person with whom to have a relationship more of an abstract concept. Many of my friends identify this way. I don t need church to believe in god or to be a good person. It is in the form of a question and an answer.
