I Regret Quitting My Job To Travel

I will be the first to admit deciding whether or not to quit my job proved to be a very difficult and emotional time in my life.

When you are younger or in a less competitive field employers are more forgiving of career breaks and gap years. Finally i set a date to realize my dream. I regret quitting this job for so many reasons. Sure my on the job skill set might ve been rusty when i finally got my two feet on a re envisioned career path but my new ability to not just survive but thrive was unparalleled.

I left corporate america in january of 2008 and was quitting job to travel for three months on a career break. In five years i told myself i m going to quit my job and travel. I loved my boss and even though i wouldn t be reporting directly to her anymore we d still be working closely together. And long term travel has been even more challenging.

Hypothetically lets say you have lived your entire life in the small remote village you probably grew up in the village school college first job everything in that village. Think about it this way. I m not sitting here writing this with rose colored glasses. I actually knew the woman the founder was bringing in to become my new boss and i know we would have gotten along well.

I can relate in so many ways. So do i regret quitting my job to travel. Which is why in early 2014 when i nervously took my manager aside to tell him that i was leaving my job to travel the world i was confident that everything would be fine soon i would be the one with the great success story and the colourful parade of pictures that would be the proof of my great escape from the daily grind.
